Liebre / Pacemaker

Te ayudaré a conseguir tu objetivo.

---

During my athletic career, I have had the oportunity to colaborate as a pacemaker in some races, but the most amazing one was the one where Florence Kiplagat set a new World Record in the half marathon. It was at the eDreams Mitja Marató de Barcelona on February 16th 2014. And it was a great day.

Florence came to Barcelona with the idea to break the circuit record (67'34") although, if everything went all right, she would try the World Record which at that time belonged to Mary Keitany in 65'50". Because I know the circuit very well and because I have worked as a pacemaker some times before, the race organizer considered me for such a hard job. And they did well.

My job started the day before at the Silken Diagonal Hotel in Barcelona, showing Florence, Stanley Siror (her second pacemaker) and Jurrie van der Velden (her manager's Jos Hermens' assistant) the caracteristics of Barcelona's Half circuit. We decided, in that meeting, to start slower than the World Record pace and as the kilometres moved on, try to push faster and faster.

Even though the pace at the 5th kilometre was not on World Record's pace, we moved closer by the 10th. And at the 15th, a bit before I dropped out, she was clearly ahead of the World Record and the goal looked possible. Florence went on with Stanley until the 20th kilometre and she crossed the finish line alone in the new World Record time of 1h05'12"

One year later, on February 15th 2015, Florence came back to the eDreams Mitja Marató de Barcelona and set the World Record of the distance at 1h05'09". In this ocasion, she also broke the World Records of 15kms and 20kms, making an historical triplet. Like the year before, I was also pacing Florence and I did so until the 12th km adding a pinch of salt on her success.

Apart from those experiences, I have also paced for Alessandra Aguilar in three Rotterdam Marathons (2008 [2h29'03"], 2011 [2h27'00"] and 2013 [2h27'03" and National record of 30kms in 1h43'50"]) and once at the Hamburg Marathon (2009 [2h29'01"]). I have also paced for Marta Esteban at the Valencia Marathon (2013 [2h40'55"]).

So if you ever need a pacemaker to hep you reach your goal, don't hesitate to contact me. I will help you achieve your ideal time.
